CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF A TRANSLATOR
In Memory of THEODORE EGGLESTON MORROW August 22, 1928 -- January 25, 2004 THE VISION The Theodore Morrow Memorial Fund was established in 2004 at the time of Ted's death by his daughter, Mary Morrow-Farrell, and La Salle University Professor, Dr. Cornelia Tsakiridou,PhD, to share Ted Morrow’s vision with the La Salle University Community in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by sponsoring special events which are dedicated to his memory and to his commitment to intercultural and interreligious dialogue. In addition to the annual lectures, the fund has given stipends to La Salle University and other college students who choose to pursue advanced language studies with a commitment to diplomacy through the University's Diplomat-in-Residence Program and through similar programs at other educational institutions. Events are often co-sponsored by various departments and groups on the La Salle University campus working towards similar goals under the auspices of the Office of the Provost and its long-standing Diplomat-in-Residence Program. Ted operated a freelance translation business offering services in the 28 languages which he learned during his 75 years of life. His contributions as a guest lecturer in a translation course at La Salle offered a new generation practical ideas for pursuing careers in linguistics, peace with justice and a strong commitment to reconciliation, restoration and forgiveness.
